FIVE FREE ICONIC PLACES

TO VISIT IN MELBOURNE

01 December 2022

Is this your first trip to Melbourne? You should visit these five beautiful iconic places for free in the city of Melbourne. You must love them.

1. Flinders Street Station

Flinders Street Station is Australia’s oldest train station. It is one of the most iconic landmarks and photographed buildings in Melbourne. Also, it is known as a popular meeting place in the city. “I’ll meet you under the clocks.” is a saying that has been used a lot.

Flinders St, Melbourne VIC 3000

2. State Library Victoria

Can you believe that there is such a beautiful library in the world? State Library Victoria is Australia’s oldest public library. This Dome Reading room is my favourite place in Melbourne. Both views from the grand or 6th floor are breathtaking. You must think you were in a fairyland. Enjoy this magnificent 19th-century building with gorgeous interiors.

3. Hosier Lane

Walk down the famous laneway that is close to Flinders Street Station. Melbourne is known as one of the greatest street art capitals. Feel the sophisticated urban art scene and find your favourite drawing there. If you are lucky, you will see artists drawing.

4. Queen Victoria Market

Do you know that Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere? You can enjoy a wide variety of fresh produce and specialty shopping. Interestingly it turns into an amazingly vibrant, open-air street food festival every Wednesday night. Enjoy both faces of the market.

Queen St, Melbourne VIC 3000

5. Royal Botanic Gardens

One of the best things in Melbourne for me is that there are huge beautiful gardens close to the city. Melbourne Gardens extend over 38 hectares and house a collection of more than 8,500 species of plants from around the world. Refresh yourself in nature.
