Melbourne Transport – Free Tram Zone

Transport by tram in Melbourne is easy if you are in the right location.  Waterfront Apartments Melbourne is situated along the Yarra river opposite Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and next door to World Trade Centre.  We are surrounded by the free tram zone on Clarendon/Spencer and Flinders Streets making it easy to move around the inner city of Melbourne.

Any stop in the designated free tram zone is free of charge and requires no Myki card.  Our closest tram stop is Batman park, stop 124 on Clarendon Street.  Any tram will take you into the city.  If you are going to extend your journey outside this zone you will need a Myki card which can be purchased nearby at Southern Cross Station at the PTV Hub or any 7-Eleven.  Your nearest one to top up and buy is at Spencer & Flinders Streets open 24 hours.

Myki card is your ticket to ride on Metro for trams, trains and buses.  Just touch on and off when you travel.

For tourists there is the free tourist tram route 35. The City Circle tram service operates within Melbourne’s CBD and operates in a circular route passing major tourist attractions.  Trams run is both directions approximately every twelve minutes between 10am and 6pm Sunday – Wednesday and extended hours 10am – 9pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Anti-clockwise service: Flinders Street | Spring Street | Nicholson Street | Victoria Parade | La Trobe Street | Docklands Drive | Harbor Esplanade | Flinders Street |
